these I can refer Your Excellency to a case in 1915 under the ordinary law where no difficulty seems to have arisen. This is the case of Kaser Singh and Ganda Singh; and the reference to the matter is in Sir Henry May's despatch No.913/1914 of October 23rd, 1915, to the Judge of the Supreme Court. 30 far as can be seen here, there has since socured nothing that is not covered by the arrangements then made.

I am informed that it has always been in the vie of the Judge that persons deported under sentences of His

Britannio Majesty's Supreme Court should be sent to their

destinations under this Court's warrant. Further, under the

provisions of Article 123 of the China Order in Courcil, 1904 the warrant of the Court would sem to give ample power to,

and protection for, a master, both in the case of a ship sailing from within the Court's jurisdiction which is not

bound to the place of deportation, and in the case of a ship

which, though bound to the place of deportation, does not

sall from within the Court's jurisdiction.

The power to require a master to receive and de- tain a deportes is given by Artiole 124 of the China Order

in Council, 1904, though this article only applies to a

master who may be within the Court's jurisdiction. In this

connection I have the honour to enclose herewith copy of odroular which, under instructions from His Majesty's Foreign

office, I sent to local British shipping companies in 1913.

I have etc..
